The Limited Voter Registration Exercise in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality of the Greater Accra Region has concluded, with approximately 3,964 new voters added to the national electoral roll. The exercise, which spanned 21 days, ended on October 2, 2023.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Kpone, Mrs. Doris Emefa Agbezhulor, the Kpone-Katamanso District Electoral Officer of the Electoral Commission, expressed satisfaction with the exercise's outcome.
She revealed that out of the 3,964 new voters, 2,115 were male, and 1,849 were female. Mrs. Agbezhulor also highlighted that the Electoral Commission had commenced the voter transfer and voter ID card replacement process, which is scheduled to conclude on October 9th, 2023.
During the registration process, 19 new registrants faced challenges, of which 12 were successfully cleared, leaving seven cases pending. Mrs. Agbezhulor emphasized that the district office would remain accessible to the public, urging registered voters with any concerns to visit and seek a resolution.
Regarding the exercise's monitoring, she noted that only two political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), had representatives present throughout the process. Their cooperation played a crucial role in ensuring the exercise's smooth operation.
For those seeking to transfer their votes, valid documents such as utility bills and indentures should be brought along. Meanwhile, individuals in need of replacement voter ID cards can use the EC-generated short code 2221067# to initiate the process.
Following the provided instructions, they should visit the district office with the transaction message to facilitate a seamless experience.
