National Paralympic Committee of Ghana (NPC Ghana) has announced the suspension of seven of its members due to gross misconduct. The suspended members are Elvis Alipui, Kenneth Kalai, Philip Richster, Charles Narh Teye, Mohammed Shabaan, Benjamin Charles Armah, and Raphael Botsyo Kegbe.
According to a statement from NPC Ghana, the decision was made in accordance with the committee’s constitution, which condemns actions such as false publications, negative public utterances, and unwarranted letters to Foreign Missions and Embassies.
The statement further emphasized that the actions and activities of the suspended members not only violated the NPC Ghana constitution but also undermined the development and promotion of Para-sport, bringing both the organization and the Paralympic Movement in Ghana into disrepute and international embarrassment.
NPC Ghana urged the suspended individuals to withdraw from all Para and amputee sports activities in Ghana immediately. The suspension will remain in force until further notice, during which the suspended members are prohibited from representing themselves as members of the Paralympic Movement in any capacity, both within Ghana and internationally.
The committee reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in Para sports and amputee sports, pledging to maintain the integrity and reputation of the organization and the Paralympic Movement as a whole.
