In the run-up to the 2024 general elections, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is gearing up for its parliamentary primary in the Keta Constituency.
The Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Basic School at Keta-Dzelukope in the Volta Region is set to host the crucial exercise, allowing delegates to elect parliamentary candidates who will vie for seats in the upcoming elections.
Mr. Bernard Sukah, the Deputy NPP Secretary for Keta, assured the Ghana News Agency that all necessary arrangements had been meticulously put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the primary.
“All arrangements, including security and others, are in place, and we are expecting a peaceful and successful primary,” he affirmed.
The voting process will involve five executives from each of the 122 polling stations, 22 electoral coordinators, as well as five patrons and members of the Council of Elders.
This select group of individuals will have the responsibility to exercise their franchise and contribute to the democratic selection of the parliamentary candidate.
Mr. Sukah took the opportunity to appeal to all aspirants to conduct their campaigns with utmost decorum, emphasizing the importance of a clean campaign devoid of insults.
This call for civility underscores the party's commitment to fostering a healthy and respectful democratic process.
As the stage is set for the parliamentary primary, three aspirants have been cleared to contest for the NPP's parliamentary candidacy in the Keta Constituency.
The aspirants include Mr. Selasi Godwin Teyie, Mr. Godknows Blebu (National Disaster Management Organization Director at Keta), and Mr. Goldberg-Grimm Lekettey (Constituency Secretary of the party).
The NPP, having elected Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as its Flagbearer for the 2024 general election on November 4, is now focused on its Extraordinary Constituency Delegates Conference scheduled for Saturday, December 2.
