Independent Presidential aspirant, Nana Kwame Bediako, expressed his intention to create a political party to pursue his presidential ambitions. However, he revealed that the Electoral Commission's (EC) alleged tardiness has hindered his plans.
Speaking on JoyNews' AM Show, the real estate mogul, also known as Cheddar, disclosed that his team had filed an application with the EC to register his political party after fulfilling all constitutional requirements.
Despite fulfilling these requirements, Bediako claimed that the EC has not responded to his application even after three months.
According to Bediako, the 1992 constitution, Act 574 (8)(2), states, “The commission shall, not later than seven days after the receipt of the application, issue to the political party a provisional certificate of registration.”
However, he noted, “After the seven days, when you pay and you submit after the seven days, it's been three months. We wrote a letter again, and they haven't responded.”
While expressing hope for a response from the EC, Bediako emphasized that he would proceed with his presidential ambitions as an independent candidate, focusing on critical issues needed to develop Ghana.
He added, “But I hope that the EC can hear me and say that let's respond to this young man and we're supposed to give him his provisional license.”
Bediako remains optimistic about the EC's response and is determined to continue his political journey under the banner of the “New Force Movement.”
