The Government of Ghana has bestowed upon 's President William Ruto the country's highest honour, the Companion of the Order of the Star of the Volta, in recognition of his exemplary leadership and dedication to democratic governance.

President Nana Addo Dankwa decorated President Ruto with the award at a State banquet in , lauding him for upholding principles of accountability and due process for all citizens, regardless of their status in society. Akufo-Addo praised Kenya under Ruto's leadership as a shining example of a nation governed by the rule of law.

President Ruto's State visit to Ghana aimed to strengthen bilateral ties, particularly within the context of the () Agreement, to promote mutual economic growth. The visit included the signing of a Memoranda of Understanding between the two governments to enhance trade volumes and exchange development ideas, as well as to advance the realization of the AfCFTA Agreement.

Both Ghana and Kenya are recognized as formidable democracies in Africa, known for upholding the rule of law and good governance. President Akufo-Addo emphasized Kenya's regained international prominence under President Ruto's leadership, particularly its vocal stance on critical issues like climate change.

President Akufo-Addo commended President Ruto for his efforts in transforming the Kenyan economy, citing achievements such as declining inflation, growth in start-ups, and increased access to housing and health insurance for citizens.

Expressing his gratitude for the honour, President Ruto praised the Government of Ghana for the award, affirming the importance of continued collaboration between the two nations for the advancement of Africa's development and prosperity.
