On Tuesday, Prosper Nartey Ogum, Head Coach of Asante Kotoko, and his entire technical team were notably absent from the club's training ground, prompting irate fans to express their displeasure over the team's poor performance in the Ghana Premier League.
According to a source who spoke with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Sports in Kumasi, about 15 disgruntled fans arrived at the Adako Jachie Training Complex ahead of the team bus, voicing their frustrations.
Upon the team bus's arrival about 20 minutes later, tension mounted as players remained seated for an additional 10 minutes, with fans eagerly awaiting their exit from the bus.
When the players finally disembarked, they faced verbal abuse from the fans, though no physical altercations occurred as the players proceeded onto the pitch without the technical team.
Some fans reportedly questioned the whereabouts of the coach, expressing their desire to confront him regarding the team's lacklustre performance in the ongoing premier league.
Despite the chaotic atmosphere, players commenced their warm-up routine for the day's training program but had to halt at a certain point due to the absence of the technical team.
Following their defeat to Dreams FC at Dawu on Sunday calls for Coach Ogum and his technical team's resignation have been mounting among Asante Kotoko supporters, citing the need to salvage the club's position in the league table.
Rumours of a potential training ground invasion to obstruct the embattled coach from performing his duties have circulated in the local media since Monday, possibly prompting the coach and his staff to refrain from attending training.
The uncertainty remains regarding whether they will be permitted to prepare the team for their upcoming game against Samartex.
