Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, a resilient broadcast journalist, is making headlines as she enters day three of her singing marathon, aiming to break the Guinness World Record set by Indian singer Sunil Waghmare, who sang for 105 hours in March 2012.
Starting her performance at midnight on Sunday, December 24, 2024, Afua is set to sing continuously until Thursday, December 28, 2023, to surpass the existing record.
By Tuesday morning, she had already completed 48 hours of singing.
Afua's singing marathon has garnered significant attention and support, both locally and globally.
Celebrities such as Nana Ama Mcbrown, Clemento Suarez, OB Amponsah, Shatta Wale, Kuami Eugene, MOG, Fifi Coleman, and others have visited the Akwaaba Village (Airport) to show solidarity.
Fans and supporters from diverse backgrounds have praised her performance, considering her an inspiration to Ghanaian musicians and music enthusiasts.
The attempt comes in the wake of calls by some Ghanaian musicians for the promotion of local songs during the Christmas season.
Afua's endeavour has turned into a mini concert, drawing a large audience of revellers, friends, and family who have gathered to offer moral support. Her determination and talent have made her a star during this record-breaking attempt.
