President Akufo-Addo has sworn in the newly appointed board of trustees for the Head of State Award Scheme (HSAS) and charged them with vital responsibilities to steer the program towards success.
The President's remarks came during a brief ceremony at the Jubilee House today.
The President urged the board to provide strategic direction for the award program and ensure its smooth operation. He emphasized the importance of engaging more young people in the initiative and maintaining public trust.
President Akufo-Addo stated, “As trustees, you are to provide direction for the operationalization of the award program, reach out to more young people with this positive program, and maintain public confidence in the scheme.”
Additionally, he stressed the board's responsibility in mobilizing necessary resources and funds to sustain and expand the award scheme, encouraging more participation from young Ghanaians.
Addressing the ongoing construction of the award house in Accra, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the board's role in ensuring the timely completion of this groundbreaking project. He stated, “You are also required as trustees to see to its completion.”
President Akufo-Addo assured the board of his government's financial support to bolster the award scheme and attract a broader youth demographic. He stated, “Government will continue to provide adequate financial resources to enable the scheme to reach out to more young people in the country.”
Mr. Harry Sintim Aboagye, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, expressed the board's dedication to the HSAS cause. He conveyed their commitment to exceed the President's expectations and contribute to the empowerment of young individuals.
“The awards scheme is a fantastic program, carefully designed to empower young people,” Mr. Aboagye remarked. He highlighted the scheme's role in encouraging skill acquisition, community engagement, physical activity, and a sense of adventure among the youth.
The board of trustees comprises Chairman Mr. Harry Sintim Aboagye, Vice Chairperson Mrs. Gladys Amoah, and Secretary Mr. Kwadwo Addeah-Safo.
Other trustees include Mr. Daniel A. Adotey, Hajia Muniratu Lamptey, Ms. Juliet Yayra Tengeh, Ohenewaa Sakyi Bekoe, Pius Hadzide, CEO of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Peter Anum, Executive Director of HSAS, and Mrs. Gifty Sakyi Bewusu.
