During a visit to the Ghana Police Service Headquarters, Interior Minister Henry Quartey cautioned citizens, especially social media users, against making inciting comments in the lead-up to the December elections. He emphasized that such actions would be met with legal consequences, with the police actively pursuing those who spread fear and panic.
Quartey commended the police for their professionalism, which has contributed to reducing Ghana's crime rate. He assured that security agencies would not interfere in the electoral process but would ensure it is free, fair, and transparent.
The Minister highlighted government efforts to bolster the police force, including increasing staff strength, providing equipment, and enhancing training in high-risk operations. He also acknowledged the contributions of his predecessor, Ambrose Dery, and pledged to continue building on past achievements.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare expressed gratitude for government support and reiterated the police's commitment to maintaining peace in Ghana. He thanked Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former Minister Ambrose Dery for their backing and acknowledged the sacrifices of police personnel.
