According to , the strike would not be called off until their demands are met.

A release from the National Secretary of UTAG, Dr Asare Asante-Annor reads, “Consequently, the fifteen (15) member branches have held independent emergency meetings to that effect and the general membership expressed dissatisfaction with the directive and were of a contrary view.”

“Thus, the members have unanimously resolved to continue with the withdrawal of teaching and related services until further notice,” it added.

UTAG expects the government to maintain their agreement in 2012/2013 of retaining the salary of an entry-level lecturer at $2,084.42.

Therefore, the association is demanding the 2013 Interim Market Premium (IMP) of 114% of Basic Salary in the interim restored.

Members of the University Association of Ghana (UTAG) embarked on strike action on Monday, January 10, to demand better conditions of service.
