Ghanaian sprinters Benjamin Azamati and Aggerh Barnabas faced disappointment in the men's 100m finals at the ongoing African Games, missing out on medals.
Benjamin Azamati, Ghana's national record holder, finished fifth with a time of 10.45s, while his compatriot Aggerh secured the sixth spot with a time of 10.50s. Despite their efforts, it was Cameroon's Emmanuel Alobwede who clinched gold with an impressive time of 10.14s. Nigeria's Itsekiri Usheoritse claimed silver with 10.23s, and Namibia's Gilbert Hainuca secured bronze with 10.29s.
In the women's 100m race, Ghana's Mary Boakye finished seventh with a time of 11.71, failing to secure a spot on the medal podium.
The women's 100m event saw Gambia's Bass Bittaye Gina Mariam taking gold with a time of 11.36s, followed by Maia Alyse in second place with 11.49s. Nigeria's Olajide Olayinka secured the bronze medal with a time of 11.55s.
