The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has submitted her nomination to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency primary scheduled for January 27, 2024. This marks her fourth move towards Parliament since 2012.
Accompanied by a large gathering of party faithful, Ms. Safo submitted her nomination form to the Dome-Kwabenya constituency executives at Haatso.
The nomination form was received by key party officials, including the constituency Chairman of the Election Committee, Osei Fordjour, Constituency Chairman Robert Osei Bonsu, and a member of the Council of Elders, Monica Agyei.
Dome-Kwabenya is known as the largest constituency in Ghana in terms of voter population, with 172,000 registered voters, and is considered a stronghold of the NPP.
In her address to the press after submitting the nomination, Safo expressed gratitude to party supporters and pledged not to let them down.
She emphasized her experience as a three-time legislator and urged constituents to vote for her for “continuity and experience.”
Ms. Safo acknowledged the challenges of the past year and a half but hoped that the constituents would forgive and support her.
She highlighted her accomplishments in education, sanitation, health, and road sectors over the past 12 years and urged voters to give her the support needed to continue her work.
She addressed her extended absence from the constituency, attributing it to her travel to the United States of America and asked her supporters to uplift her, emphasizing, “As some Ghanaians think that I have fallen, you are my lovers to uplift me, to give victory another chance.”
