Courage Nobi, the Director of Communications for the Movement for Change, has asserted that Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen stands as the most effective leader to combat corruption in Ghana.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the performance of both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nobi emphasized the need for a fresh approach to address the pervasive issue of corruption.
Nobi highlighted that the tenure of both major political parties in Ghana has been tainted by corruption, leading him to advocate for a leader with a proven track record of integrity. He singled out Alan Kyerematen as the ideal candidate to spearhead the fight against corruption and steer the country in a new direction.
“We cannot force ourselves to choose between the NPP and NDC because neither of them is providing Ghanaians with a choice in 2024. There is no difference between the two parties when you look at them, and that is why going forward in 2024 and beyond, the fight against corruption cannot be won by these two political parties but by a leader who has a track record of integrity and that is Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen,” Nobi stated.
Nobi expressed concerns about the endemic nature of corruption under the current government and predicted a worsening situation in 2024. He called on political leaders to take responsibility for combating corruption by setting exemplary standards in their personal and professional lives.
“The frustration is that you don't finish discussing one scandal before another pops up, and that tells you how endemic corruption is, and I am afraid of how we will be swamped by scandals next year,” Nobi remarked.
He emphasized that fighting corruption requires more than the passage of laws and guidelines; it demands leaders who exemplify integrity and a commitment to eradicating corruption from their spheres of influence.
“The best and easiest way to fight corruption is to be an example, be incorruptible, don't participate, and make sure your family and friends do not participate, and when you can deal with that, then you can deal with those who even attempt to be corrupt,” Nobi concluded.
