Minister urges Ghanaian athletes to excel at 13th African Games

Mustapha Ussif, the Minister of in Ghana, has encouraged Ghanaian athletes to train harder and strive for success at the upcoming 13th . During a visit to Team Ghana's training base in , where athletes from various sports disciplines were preparing for the games, Ussif emphasized the government's investment in ensuring the success of the games and supporting athletes' preparations.

Ghana is set to present a contingent of over 500 athletes in sports such as Athletics, Badminton, Cycling, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, and Triathlon, among others. Minister Ussif conveyed a message on behalf of the President and all Ghanaians, urging athletes to work hard and deliver for the country.

Ussif highlighted the government's commitment to hosting the games and supporting athletes in their preparations. He also called on Ghanaians to register as volunteers for the event and encouraged corporate entities to support the games by engaging with the Local Organising Committee.

Athletes, who began camping in on January 9, are scheduled to return to the on February 8 to continue training and test the new sporting facilities. The 13th will be hosted by Ghana from March 8 to 23, 2024, with over 3,500 elite athletes from 54 countries expected to participate.
