A comprehensive plan for livelihood empowerment is set to transform the lives of 58 communities in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region.
The initiative, spearheaded by Mr. Augustine Collins Ntim, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, aims to enhance living conditions, foster economic activities, and elevate the communities to urban status.

Mr. Ntim emphasized his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by rural communities and pledged to transform them into urban centers for an improved social life.
The upcoming electrification project, valued at 3.7 million, will span all 58 communities, ensuring improved access to electricity. Additionally, rehabilitation efforts for roads are set to facilitate seamless transportation of goods and services between communities and urban centers.
Specific communities, such as Bosomponso and Mpaepam, are slated for electrification projects and advanced road development, enabling residents to access quality education and healthcare. The MP expressed determination to expedite the development of the Offinso North area within the next five years.
Highlighting his contributions to education in the region, Mr. Ntim mentioned the establishment of five Senior High Schools, a College of Education, and a University to enhance the educational landscape from basic to tertiary levels.
As part of the ongoing initiatives, Mr. Ntim inaugurated the construction of a three-unit classroom block for the Bosomponso community and donated roofing sheets for the Mpaepam Kindergarten, emphasizing the importance of quality educational infrastructure.
During an inspection visit to the Wiafi Akenten Presbyterian Senior High School at Akumadan, the MP ensured progress on educational infrastructure, including dormitories and water supply systems.
He urged teachers to remain committed to realizing quality education, assuring them of post-graduate scholarship opportunities to further their studies and contribute to the development of the district.
District Chief Executive Mr. Albert Sefa Boampong commended the initiatives, acknowledging their potential to provide residents with urban amenities and a modern way of life.
