Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro MP Sylvester Tetteh have reconciled following a heated confrontation within the parliamentary chambers. The incident, initially sparking concerns of a brewing conflict, took a positive twist as the two politicians set aside their differences after swift intervention by the majority leadership.
The clash occurred during what seemed to be a routine exchange of pleasantries, with Sylvester Tetteh seeking to greet Kennedy Agyapong upon his entry into the chamber. However, Mr. Agyapong reacted harshly, leading to a verbal altercation between the two NPP MPs.
Reports suggest that a closed-door meeting facilitated by the majority leadership, particularly Deputy Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo Markin, played a crucial role in defusing the tension. The meeting provided a platform for Agyapong and Tetteh to express their concerns, ultimately leading to a mutual understanding.
Hours after the near-fisticuffs in Parliament on Tuesday, February 13, the MPs were seen grinning from ear to ear beside each other, signalling a successful reconciliation. Deputy Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and Majority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh were instrumental in helping the MPs bury the hatchet.
Effutu MP, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, humorously suggested that Kennedy Agyapong, the unsuccessful NPP presidential candidate aspirant, should throw a reconciliation party for all MPs, injecting a moment of light-heartedness into the atmosphere.
