A recent video circulating shows Mr Fiifi Kwetey, a politician, addressing an audience in Northern Ghana, where he reportedly warned voters against supporting Dr Bawumia, whom he labelled a “disgrace” to the North. While the specific behaviour that prompted Kwetey's warning remains unclear, his remarks draw parallels to similar criticism levelled against another prominent politician from the North, Mr Martin Amidu.

Amidu, a seasoned politician and former Deputy , Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (), , and Minister of Justice, as well as the first occupant of the Office Of Special Prosecutor, openly criticized then-President John Mahama in 2015. Amidu described Mahama as a “disgrace” to the North and Northern politicians due to what he perceived as Mahama's tolerance of .

Amidu's scathing assessment of Mahama's leadership suggested that the president's conduct would tarnish the reputation of Northern politicians for years to come, making it difficult for another Northerner to be elected president. Amidu's sentiments echoed a sense of disappointment and frustration with the perceived lack of integrity in Mahama's administration.

The comparison drawn between Kwetey's warning against Bawumia and Amidu's criticism of Mahama highlights a broader issue within the political landscape. It underscores the internal scrutiny and accountability within political parties, where members are not hesitant to criticize their own leadership when they perceive actions or behaviors as detrimental to the party's image or the interests of their constituents.

In this context, Fiifi Kwetey's cautionary remarks serve as a reminder of the complexities and dynamics within political discourse, where intra-party criticism can reflect broader concerns about leadership, integrity, and representation.
