Teacher unions in Ghana have rejected a request by the Ghana Education Service (GES) for the submission of staff personal files as part of a job evaluation exercise.
In a statement issued by the unions, they indicated that the request contained in a letter from GES Headquarters in collaboration with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC)was addressed to regional directors requesting staff personal files for evaluation purposes.

The unions described the move as a delay tactic in addressing longstanding concerns affecting teachers, which they said had been raised before the President of the Republic and the National Labour Commission since 2024 and 2025.
They therefore rejected the directive and called for its immediate withdrawal, urging teachers not to comply with the request.
According to the unions, an alternative approach has been proposed, whereby GES could directly extract staff records from schools, district offices, regional offices, and headquarters for the required information needed for the job evaluation process.
The statement was signed by leaders of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT).
The unions copied their concerns to the Ministers of Education, Finance, Labour, the Chief Executive of FWSC, the Chairman of the Public Services Commission, the Executive Secretary of the National Labour Commission, and the Director-General of GES.
The development highlights ongoing tensions between teacher unions and education authorities over conditions of service and administrative procedures linked to salary and job classification reforms.
