GES launches national entrepreneurship programme for senior high schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES), in partnership with Kivo Ghana, has launched the National Entrepreneurship Programme for Senior High Schools to equip students with practical entrepreneurial and employability skills.

The programme is currently being piloted in selected schools, with plans for nationwide implementation. It aims to build entrepreneurial mindsets, provide students with real-world business experience, and establish a national framework for entrepreneurship education at the pre-tertiary level.

Professor Smile Gavua Dzisi, Deputy Director-General (Management Services) of GES, said entrepreneurship education should focus on practical skills rather than theory.

She encouraged students to become creators of opportunities instead of job seekers by developing innovative ideas that contribute to national development.

Representing the Chief Executive Officer of Procus Ghana, Evans Kwofie encouraged students to remain curious, believe in their abilities, participate actively, and think boldly, noting that students are central to the Kivo brand’s mission of promoting innovation and creativity.

The event also featured a panel discussion with representatives from Achimota School, Accra STEM Academy, and Wesley Grammar School, who discussed the role of young people in entrepreneurship and the potential of students to become future business leaders.

GES said the initiative reflects its commitment to preparing students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to thrive in a changing world while nurturing the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and job creators.
