Tema motorway reconstruction: road users grapple with dust and illegal parking

Commuters on the Tema Motorway are facing increased challenges as ongoing reconstruction works continue along the busy highway. Reports indicate that dust from construction sites and improperly parked vehicles are creating hazardous conditions for motorists and pedestrians alike.

Road users have expressed frustration over limited visibility due to persistent dust clouds, which not only affect driving conditions but also raise health concerns for nearby residents. In addition, many drivers are struggling with illegal parking along the motorway shoulders, which further narrows already congested lanes and increases the risk of accidents.

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has urged commuters to exercise caution and follow designated diversion routes, while also calling on contractors to implement dust control measures and proper signage. Authorities are reportedly coordinating with local traffic units to enforce parking regulations and ensure smoother flow of traffic during the reconstruction period.

Motorists have appealed for accelerated completion of the works, highlighting that prolonged delays are impacting both daily commutes and commercial activities along the vital transport corridor linking Accra to the Tema port.
