GES, NIA strengthen collaboration ahead of mass registration of children

The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has held a meeting with a delegation from the National Identification Authority (NIA) to advance preparations for the upcoming mass registration of Ghanaian children aged 6 to 14 years.

The NIA delegation was led by its Executive Secretary, Wisdom Kwaku Deku. Discussions focused on deepening institutional collaboration to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated nationwide registration exercise.

Key areas addressed included operational planning, logistics, communication strategies with schools and parents, and clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of both institutions. The exercise is expected to take place across basic schools nationwide.

GES reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the national assignment by facilitating access to schools and working closely with regional and district education offices to ensure effective implementation.

The registration of children is considered critical for national planning, improving access to public services, and strengthening Ghana’s identity management system.

Authorities have encouraged parents and guardians to cooperate fully when the exercise begins to ensure that all eligible children are captured.

Both institutions emphasised their shared commitment to safeguarding the interests of every Ghanaian child through efficient and inclusive registration processes.
