The Bono Regional Police Command has successfully rescued 30-year-old Millicent Fosua, who was kidnapped in Berekum, Bono Region, and reunited her with her family.
According to Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police, the incident occurred after Millicent and her husband, Samuel Amartey Laryea, attended a funeral on October 29, 2025, in Kyeremasu, Dormaa Central Municipality.

On November 3, Mr Laryea received a ransom call from unknown perpetrators demanding GHC12,000 for his wife’s release. He initially sent GHC2,000 via mobile money, but the kidnappers did not release her, prompting him to report the matter to the police.
The Regional Police Intelligence Directorate conducted an intelligence-led undercover operation, successfully rescuing Millicent in Berekum.
The statement confirmed that the victim had endured physical abuse, verbal threats, and insults and that the kidnappers had seized her mobile phone, coercing her to provide her husband’s mobile phone number and mobile money PIN.
The Police are actively investigating the case, though no arrests have yet been made. This operation highlights the commitment of the Bono Regional Police to intelligence-driven operations and the safety of citizens against criminal activities.
