IGP visits injured officer at KATH after Sampa clashes

Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has visited the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi to check on a police officer injured during the recent violent clashes between two rival groups at Sampa in the Bono Region.

The officer, along with seven others, sustained injuries when their vehicle was caught in crossfire between the rival groups and veered off the road into a ditch.

The IGP has also dispatched a high-powered delegation made up of members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) to Sampa to assess the security situation, visit the treated officers, and ensure the welfare of personnel deployed to the area.

Additionally, the team will engage with police officers, the Bono Regional Security Council (REGSEC), traditional authorities, youth groups, and other stakeholders to restore and sustain peace in Sampa.

Meanwhile, reinforcement teams comprising officers from the SWAT Unit and the Formed Police Unit (FPU) have been deployed to intensify patrols and enhance security in Sampa and its surrounding communities.
