Around 150 women executives from polling stations affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tano North Constituency of the Ahafo Region have undergone employable skills training.
Selected from various polling stations, these women received instruction in soap and washing powder production, body and hair cream manufacturing, as well as shower gel and parazone production.
This initiative, funded by Dr. Freda Prempeh, the Member of Parliament for Tano North and the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, aims to equip these women with skills that will enable them to establish self-sustaining businesses and attain financial independence.
The training program was conducted as part of the 2023 Tano North Women Conference organized by the NPP's constituency women's wing.
The conference, held under the theme “Empowering Women in Skill Development,” serves as an annual event to unite women, and identify and address emerging challenges facing the party within the constituency.
Ms. Stella Serwaa, an executive member, emphasized that the conference plays a crucial role in strengthening the party and maintaining peace within the constituency.
The women expressed their gratitude towards Dr. Prempeh for her support, and the MP encouraged the participants to use the knowledge they acquired to make a positive impact in their communities, enhance their livelihoods, and contribute to the well-being of their families.
She also mentioned her office's efforts to assist women in accessing financial aid through the Micro-Finance and Loan Centre (MASLOC) for their businesses.
In addition to the skills training, the beneficiaries received free breast cancer screenings, sponsored by the MP. Madam Abena Konadu Gyimah, a Public Health Nurse at the Duayaw-Nkwanta St. John of God Catholic Hospital, conducted the screenings.
She urged women to prioritize their health and report any unusual signs or symptoms related to breast health to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment.
