Police in the Yendi District have arrested three suspected kidnappers after officers tracked them to Wapuli and engaged them in an exchange of gunfire during a rescue mission earlier today.
The suspects, 31-year-old Haruna Seidu, Amidu Bande, and 40-year-old Osman Bande, reportedly opened fire as police moved in to free a kidnapped victim.

Officers returned fire, subdued the suspects, and rescued the victim without injuries.
Investigators say the group had earlier demanded a GH¢100,000 ransom from the victim’s family.
At the scene, officers retrieved a bag containing GH¢70,000, believed to be part of the amount already paid.
A fourth suspect managed to escape and is believed to have fled with injuries.
A manhunt is underway to locate and arrest him.
Police also recovered three motorbikes and a Samsung phone abandoned during the operation.
The arrested suspects are in custody and expected to be arraigned soon, marking a significant breakthrough as authorities confront rising kidnapping-for-ransom activity in the region.
