Dr. Patrick Ekye Kwesie, a Convention People's Party (CPP) Parliamentary Aspirant for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, has emphasized the need for the operationalization of gas and other natural resources in the Nzema enclave to translate into wealth creation for the local population.
Dr Kwesie urged the government to leverage gas and oil resources to drive industrialization, bridging the unemployment gap and creating prosperity for the people in the region.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Dr Kwesie expressed disappointment in successive governments, stating that loose agreements with foreign operators have hindered the region's development. He stressed that while the discovery of oil and gas alone does not guarantee automatic development, strategic measures should be implemented to add value to resources, generate revenue, and build industries for youth employment.
Dr Kwesie criticized the lack of proper accounting for proceeds from oil and gas exploration in the area, hindering the industrialization dream. Aspiring to become the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro, he highlighted his commitment to addressing economic challenges and changing the development narrative.
Dr Kwesie emphasized the importance of leveraging natural resources to create wealth for the people and expressed a desire to bring in development partners for the region's growth.
Discussing plans to address youth unemployment, Dr. Kwesie outlined intentions to invest in human capital development, including skill training, to equip the youth for diverse business ventures. He called on CPP delegates in the Jomoro Constituency to endorse his candidacy, expressing his commitment to serving the people and snatching the parliamentary seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the area.
