Resumption of pontoon services eases stranded vehicles and passengers on River Oti

After three days of being stranded due to a technical fault, the pontoon on River has resumed operations, providing much-needed relief to vehicles and passengers. A visit by the (GNA) confirmed that the ferry is now transporting vehicles and travelers between both landing sites.

Commander Victor Oppong Fianko, Operation Manager of the Volta Lake Transport Limited (VLT), expressed his optimism that by 1900 hours, all vehicles and passengers would be successfully crossed from both ends. He extended his gratitude to drivers and passengers for their cooperation and patience during the disruption, apologizing for any inconveniences caused.

Efforts are underway by management to ensure smooth operations and prevent further disruptions. However, some travelers took the opportunity to advocate for a more permanent solution to transportation challenges in the region.

They called on the government to consider the construction of a bridge across River , emphasizing the benefits it would bring in terms of transportation, connection, and communication between the southern and northern parts of the Oti Region and the rest of the . They argued that while the pontoon serves its purpose, a bridge would significantly enhance economic activities, attract investors, and improve accessibility to the regional capital.
