In response to former President Mahama's Message, Richard Ahiagba, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party () and former Deputy Director of Research at the Office of the President, dismissed the message as desperate, uninspiring, and unconvincing.

Mr Ahiagba highlighted what he sees as a fundamental misunderstanding on the part of the former President regarding the role of Vice President Dr Bawumia in economic management.

Ahiagba pointed out the factual inaccuracy in attributing economic mismanagement to Dr. Bawumia, stating firmly that “Bawumia is not the President.”

He emphasized that it is crucial to distinguish between the roles of the Vice President and the President in the context of economic governance.

Addressing the former President's assertion that the Ghanaian economy has been mismanaged, Ahiagba disagreed, calling it a misrepresentation of the facts.

He urged Mahama to provide a truthful account of the present economic challenges, emphasizing the global economic struggles induced by the profound impact of and the - War.

Ahiagba stressed the importance of acknowledging these external factors, asserting that understanding the problem is an integral part of finding effective solutions.

In a somewhat candid remark, he concluded by suggesting that it might be time for the former President to reconsider his position, stating, “Perhaps it is time to hang it up, Sir!”
