Street Sense Organisation (SSO), an NGO advocating road safety, has made a valuable contribution to the Shai Osudoku District Hospital, donating items worth over GH¢ 37,000.
The donation, consisting of 50 branded mattresses and 30 cartons of washing soap, aims to support patients in the hospital's accident ward.
Mrs. Gloria Laryea, a member of the Board of Trustees, highlighted the crucial role hospitals play in saving lives after road accidents and explained that SSO's decision to support the hospital aligns with its objectives as an organization.
She emphasized that many hospitals lack sufficient beds for patients, and these items will aid the government's efforts to equip the hospital and provide comfort to accident victims.
Dr Kenedy Tettey Coffie Brightson, the Medical Director of the hospital, expressed gratitude for the collaboration with SSO, emphasizing the impact it will have on saving lives and reducing streetism.
He emphasized the importance of supporting accident victims, especially children who often suffer the most when the economic backbone of their families is lost due to road accidents.
The hospital, located on the major accident-prone road from Adenta to Somanya, often receives a significant number of accident victims, making the support from SSO invaluable in handling such cases.
Dr. Brightson expressed deep appreciation for the donation and urged others to support the hospital with blankets and bed sheets to enhance their work.
