A collision involving a National Security Cocoa Taskforce Isuzu vehicle and a suspected Toyota Vitz carrying bags of dried cocoa beans has resulted in the tragic death of two individuals in the Kadjebi District.
The incident occurred during a chase from Dodi-Papase to Kadjebi when the National Security Cocoa Taskforce vehicle collided with a motorbike.
The rider, Peter Agblah, a 21-year-old footballer with Oti Warriors, a division two football team in the Oti Region, succumbed to his injuries instantly.
The pillion, Paul Arlowe, also a 22-year-old footballer from the same team, sustained various degrees of injury and was rushed to the St. Mary Theresa Hospital, Dodi-Papase. Unfortunately, he later passed away from his injuries. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital's mortuary.
The accident, caused by the National Security Cocoa Taskforce vehicle, has stirred emotions among the youth of Koto-Nkwanta, a farming community in the Kadjebi District, leading to the setting ablaze of the vehicle.
David Agblah, the brother of the deceased Peter Agblah, shared with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the tragic incident occurred as his late brother was returning from Kadjebi to their village, Yadzo.
Superintendent Gyan-Mante Frempong, the Kadjebi District Police Commander, confirmed the accident, stating that investigations are currently underway.
The incident, which transpired on Monday, December 25, around 20:48 hours, has plunged Koto-Nkwanta and neighbouring villages into mourning.
