The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will hold a press conference on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Asante Hall of the Alisa Hotel in Accra, ahead of the much-anticipated international friendly between the Black Queens of Ghana and the Lionesses of England.
The media event will spotlight the upcoming clash, outline preparations for the 2025/26 Women’s League season, and discuss the future of women’s football in Ghana.

Key officials expected to grace the occasion include Ama Brobey Williams, GFA Deputy General Secretary (Administration); Lydia Donkor, Director General of the Ghana Police CID; Hon. Betty Krosbi-Mensah, Technical Advisor to the Minister of Sports and Recreation; Naa Odofoley Nortey, Lawyer and CAF Match Commissioner; Winnifred Mawudeku, Director of the GFA Technical Centre; Janice Odonkor, Head of Business Development, GFA; Barbara Araba Yankah, Head of Women’s Football (WPL), GFA; and Jennifer Sarpong Amankwah, Head of Women’s Football Development, GFA Technical Directorate.
Members of the Black Queens’ technical team and selected players will also participate, sharing insights on the team’s readiness and ongoing efforts to elevate and empower women’s football in Ghana and across Africa.
The friendly match promises to be a thrilling encounter, providing both teams with an opportunity to assess their performance levels ahead of upcoming international assignments, including the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.
The GFA reiterated its commitment to advancing women’s football through initiatives under the #EmpowerHerGame campaign, which aims to build momentum, inspire participation, and create long-term opportunities for women in sports.
