Arsenal Football Club acted in accordance with legal counsel from the moment midfielder Thomas Partey was first arrested, ensuring safeguarding procedures were in place to protect staff and players, journalist Gary Al-Smith has reported.
According to Al-Smith, who serves as Regional Lead for the Sporty Group and contributes to international outlets such as Al Jazeera, BBC, Sky Sports, The Athletic and others, the club was meticulous in its internal handling of the matter.

Partey, 32, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 5, to answer six charges related to rape and sexual assault. The Ghanaian international was charged earlier this year, and legal experts anticipate that a full trial may not begin until sometime in 2026.
Until then, Partey remains legally free and may continue his professional career, should any club choose to sign him. He is currently a free agent after leaving Arsenal, but any potential employer would do so with full knowledge that he is facing serious criminal charges in the UK.
