Sally Torpey, CEO of Sallet Fashion House, has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential Leaders in Africa for 2022, by the Pan African Youth Leadership Foundation, for her impact on the fashion, art, and craft industry both in Africa and globally.
The award ceremony took place at the British Council in Accra.
Torpey's brands, Oheemaa and Sally Torpey have gained global recognition due to her participation in international fashion shows such as The Miami Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week. She has been instrumental in putting Ghana and Africa on the global market.
As the African representative of the Centre for International Trade Development-CITD Miami World Trade Center, Torpey works to ensure African products are included in the supply and distribution chain in the United States and North American markets where Africa struggles to have a place.
After receiving the award, Torpey expressed her gratitude, saying “I appreciate humbly the recognition of my work in the industry. It is an encouragement for me to get to do more work, and ensure we place Ghana and Africa in the marketplace for economic growth.”
She also dedicated the award to all industry captains in Ghana and Africa, saying “Together we can make an impact and great economic development and transformation for our industry and continent.”
