The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has rounded off its Volta Regional Thank You Tour with a colourful grand durbar at Juapong in the North Tongu District, celebrating unity, progress, and renewed commitment to development.
The event, held at the Elezu Family Grounds, drew hundreds of supporters, traditional leaders, and community members who gathered amidst vibrant music and dance to reaffirm their loyalty to the NDC.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman of the NDC, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the chiefs and people of the Volta Region for their unwavering support, assuring them of the party’s continued dedication to equitable development across Ghana.
Ms Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, North Tongu District Chief Executive, outlined several key projects executed under President John Dramani Mahama‘s leadership. These include:
- Completion of the culvert and feeder road linking the National Health Insurance office and the Three Kings Special School at Battor.
- Construction of the Avedzi D/A JHS block.
- Near completion of the Dorfor-Tornu three-unit classroom block.
She further revealed that the long-delayed Dove CHPS compound is now ready for commissioning, while additional projects are under tendering to ensure balanced development across all six traditional areas in the district.
Ms Doe commended Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu and Minister of Foreign Affairs, for securing several GETFund projects for Senior High Schools, which have significantly improved educational infrastructure.
While acknowledging the strides made, she appealed for North Tongu’s inclusion in the next phase of the Big Push Initiative and called for renewed government attention on reviving the Juapong Textiles and Aveyime Rice projects, alongside the establishment of a University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) satellite campus in the district.
Traditional leaders, including Togbe Agbohla VI, Manklalo of the Dorfor Traditional Area, urged continued efforts toward industrial revival and youth empowerment.
In his remarks, Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, announced that work would soon begin on the Juapong–Podoe–Abutia–Sokode–Ho Road network, which is expected to boost regional trade and mobility.
The event also featured an appeal from Mr Dominic Adoboe, Constituency Vice Chairman, for fairness in internal party elections and greater empowerment opportunities for grassroots members.
The Juapong durbar concluded with a renewed spirit of unity, gratitude, and shared purpose, as the NDC pledged to continue driving the socio-economic transformation of North Tongu and the Volta Region at large.
