Mr. Daniel Krull, the German Ambassador to Ghana, underscored the importance of empowering the youth for Ghana's future development.
He referred to the young generation as “the new gold of Ghana” and emphasized the need to invest in their growth to ensure a prosperous country and continent.
Speaking at this year's German Ghanaian Cultural Festival, held to mark the Day of German Unity, Ambassador Krull affirmed Germany's commitment to assisting in the development of this “new gold” – the young and ambitious youth – for the advancement of Ghana.
The Day of German Unity commemorates the historic reunification of East and West Germany. It marks the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, reuniting loved ones after decades of separation and allowing people to travel freely within Germany.
On this day, Germans reflect on their hard-earned reunification and their desire to build a cohesive community while celebrating the country's diverse customs and identities.
In Ghana, the festival featured electrifying musical performances by renowned artists such as Wiyaala, Okyeame Kwame, Black Prophet, and the international duo Crazy Keys and Souly Bird.
As part of the celebration, Ambassador Krull presented Lifetime awards to “Borga Hiplife” artists who have excelled in promoting the Highlife genre in Ghana, Germany, and globally.
During the festivities, attended by the Diplomatic Corps, the German Community, CEOs of German companies in Ghana, government officials, musicians, media representatives, and others, guests enjoyed indigenous Ghanaian Highlife music and soothing reggae rhythms at the Ambassador's residence in Accra.
Ambassador Krull expressed that the Day of German Unity was a special occasion to express gratitude to their European partners in Europe and beyond, who supported their quest for unity.
He also thanked Ghana for the kindness and friendliness of its people, which made their stay enjoyable and enriching.
The Ambassador reiterated Germany's commitment to supporting Ghana in empowering its younger generation by providing them with the competence, confidence, knowledge, and experience necessary to shape their future in Ghana and beyond.
He emphasized Germany's readiness to partner with Ghana in investing in education, skills development, and opportunities for young people to drive economic growth.
Krull stressed the importance of fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership among the youth to address various challenges and unlock the continent's potential for growth.
