The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has extended its congratulations to Morocco, Portugal, and Spain for securing the hosting rights to co-stage the FIFA World Cup in 2030.
This momentous decision comes as part of the 100th-anniversary celebrations of the renowned quadrennial sporting event.
In a unique twist, South American countries Argentina, Portugal, and Paraguay are set to host the first three games of the tournament, granting automatic qualification to these six nations.
This marks the second time that the FIFA World Cup will grace the African continent, following South Africa's successful hosting of the tournament in 2010.
CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, expressed his excitement and confidence in Morocco, Portugal, and Spain's partnership for hosting the FIFA World Cup 2030, stating, “We are confident that Morocco, Portugal, and Spain's FIFA World Cup 2030 partnership would be successful in the FIFA bidding process and would also obtain the FIFA Congress approval.”
Dr. Motsepe extended his gratitude to the King of Morocco, the Moroccan government, and its people for their support in securing the bid.
He also acknowledged the contributions of the CAF Executive Committee and the Member Associations representing the 54 African countries that form part of CAF.
The CAF believes that Morocco's hosting of the World Cup will play a pivotal role in advancing football's development and growth in Africa.
