The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, laid the Bill before Parliament earlier this year, stating that the proposed legislation is intended to improve access to justice, reduce the backlog of court cases and re-establish tribunals with stronger constitutional safeguards and oversight mechanisms.
Following its introduction, the Bill was referred to Parliament’s Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee and the Judiciary Committee for detailed consideration before being returned to the House for debate.
With Parliament’s approval, the legislation moves a step closer to implementation, pending assent by President John Dramani Mahama.
