During the meeting, Ambassador Agyeman highlighted the longstanding ancestral and historical ties between Ghana and Jamaica, noting that relations between the two countries continue to reflect shared cultural heritage and people-to-people connections.

He pointed to initiatives such as the Black Star Experience and the Year of Return as important programmes strengthening cultural exchange and cooperation between the two nations.

According to him, the reconvening of the Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation presents an opportunity for both countries to deepen collaboration and explore issues of mutual interest.

Ambassador Agyeman also referenced the Visa Waiver Agreement signed between Ghana and Jamaica in June 2019, describing it as an important step toward facilitating closer interaction between citizens of both countries.

He further stressed the need to promote stronger private sector cooperation to support economic growth and sustainable development.

On her part, Ambassador Symone Betton Nayo recalled that diplomatic relations between Ghana and Jamaica date back to 1958 and said the reconvening of the PJCC demonstrates a renewed commitment to strengthening bilateral ties based on mutual respect, shared heritage and democratic values.

Discussions during the meeting covered a range of areas, including social and humanitarian cooperation, culture, political and legal affairs, and security cooperation between the two countries.
