Ghana's national futsal team secured a place at the 2024 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following a remarkable second-leg victory over Ivory Coast on Friday, February 9.
Despite a challenging start with a 4-0 loss in the first leg held in Cape Coast, Ghana staged an impressive comeback in the second leg, clinching a 6-2 win away from home. This decisive victory levelled the aggregate score at 6-6 between the two teams.
However, Ghana advanced to the main competition on the away goal rule, securing their spot at the AFCON tournament set to be held in Morocco from April 8 to 17, 2024.
The top three teams from the AFCON will earn qualification to the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan as representatives of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
This qualification marks Ghana's return to the Futsal AFCON since their last appearance in 1996, where they reached the final but suffered a defeat to Egypt.
