Former Minister for Education, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has highlighted key achievements from his tenure, particularly in strengthening foundational learning and early childhood education in Ghana.

In a recent engagement, Dr. Opoku Prempeh noted that his time in office saw enhanced collaboration between the Ghana Education Service and UNICEF. He said the partnership played a significant role in advancing early learning initiatives, many of which continue to be implemented and expanded across the country.

The former minister made the remarks after hosting members of an inter-agency team who provided updates on the progress of these education interventions. The team also presented him with a citation in recognition of his contributions during his tenure.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh expressed appreciation for the honour, describing it as a reflection of the collective efforts of stakeholders in the education sector. He reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that improve learning outcomes and strengthen Ghana’s education system.

The collaboration between GES and UNICEF has been central to efforts aimed at improving literacy, numeracy, and early childhood development, which are widely seen as critical foundations for long-term educational success.

His remarks come at a time when Ghana continues to prioritize reforms in the education sector, with a focus on quality, accessibility, and sustainability.
