GES seeks public feedback to shape future of Free SHS, Double Track

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has launched a public survey to evaluate the effectiveness of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy and the Double Track System, marking a major step in assessing their real impact on education in Ghana.

The survey, announced on GES’s Facebook page on February 22, 2025, invites students, parents, teachers, and the general public to share their experiences and concerns. It aims to determine whether these policies are meeting their objectives or require modifications.

Since its introduction, the Free SHS policy has expanded access to education, eliminating financial barriers for many students. However, challenges such as overcrowding, strained infrastructure, and concerns about teaching quality—especially under the Double Track System—have sparked debates on its long-term sustainability.

This public engagement coincides with the National Education Forum in Ho, where experts and policymakers are discussing broader education reforms. GES has indicated that responses from the survey will help inform discussions at the forum and shape future policies.

With education reform a critical national issue, the survey offers an opportunity for Ghanaians to influence decisions that could refine the Free SHS and Double Track System, ensuring they better serve the country’s students.
