President John Dramani Mahama has assured that his government will fully implement the findings of the investigative report into election-related violence in 2020 and 2024, including providing fair compensation to all victims.
A statement from the Presidency said the commitment was made when executives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), led by President Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor, paid a courtesy call on him to present concerns for redress.

“Last week, I received the investigative report on the two incidents. It details and catalogues everyone who was affected by the violence and the circumstances that led to it,” President Mahama said. “We have handed it over to the Attorney-General. The Attorney-General will review it and, where necessary, hold people culpable and bring them to book.”
The President added that the Attorney-General had also been tasked to determine adequate compensation packages for victims, including families of those who died and individuals still living with injuries. “What is the adequate compensation that we can give to people like that?” he remarked.
He stressed that electoral violence had harmed not only innocent bystanders and political activists but also journalists performing their professional duties, underscoring the government’s commitment to accountability and justice.
