About 1,000 people in the Ellembelle District have undergone eye screenings and cataract surgeries through a mobile clinic initiative spearheaded by Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament for the area. Of those screened, 500 were diagnosed with cataracts and received surgical interventions.
The three-week exercise brought together medical experts from Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Agogo Presbyterian Hospital, Saint Martin De Porres Hospital at Eikwe, and the Daybreak Vision Foundation.

At the conclusion of the programme, Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah expressed satisfaction with its success, stating that it had delivered vital eye care services directly to residents in need. “I am particularly pleased to report that each one successfully received surgical intervention, resulting in the restoration of their vision,” he said.
He commended the dedication of ophthalmologists, optometrists, and medical personnel from the collaborating hospitals and organizations, acknowledging their critical role in the initiative’s achievements.
As Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Acting Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah assured the people of Ellembelle and the entire Nzema area of his continued commitment to their health care and overall wellbeing.
