Fire service responds to fatal crash on Atibie-Nkawkaw road

The Ghana National Fire Service responded to a fatal road crash on the Atibie-Nkawkaw Road on April 27, 2026.

At 22:24 hours, Mpraeso Fire Station received a distress call from Mr Suraj Mohammed reporting a serious accident. A five-member rescue team led by Sub-Officer Afful was dispatched and arrived at 22:35 hours.

The team found a Hyundai Grace with registration GR-5660-18 that reportedly suffered a brake failure, veered off the road, and plunged into a valley.

All seven occupants, made up of six females and one male, were confirmed dead at the scene.

The bodies were retrieved and handed over to the police. They were later deposited at the Nkawkaw Roman Hospital morgue.

The rescue team returned to base at 00:58 hours, with officers from the Ghana Police Service present at the scene.
