On Easter Monday, hundreds of revellers, including both locals and foreigners, descended upon the beaches along the Labadi stretch to unwind with family and friends. This annual tradition of beach visitations has become synonymous with Easter Mondays over the years, providing an opportunity for families and friends to come together for leisure and relaxation.
The Labadi beaches, including La Pleasure Beach, Play Club Beach, and Laboma Beach, were bustling with holidaymakers seeking respite from their daily routines. Mr. Kofi Adomako, a businessman, expressed his delight at being able to spend quality time with his family at the beach, highlighting Easter Monday as the perfect occasion for such outings, especially given his busy schedule.
Similarly, Madam Susana Adoquaye, a banker, shared that her family had designated Easter Monday as a day for annual get-togethers, emphasizing the importance of family bonding during festive seasons. For Madam Eunice Nettey, a civil servant, her first beach experience with her family was described as “great fun,” with plans already in place for a return visit next year.
In addition to swimming, revellers partook in various beach activities, including dancing, acrobatics, horse riding, and friendly competitions such as eating and drinking contests and football matches. The beaches buzzed with energy as people enjoyed the festive atmosphere.
To ensure the safety of all attendees, security measures were heightened at the beaches throughout the day. Bars and restaurants at the beachfront were bustling with activity, catering to the needs of patrons seeking refreshments and culinary delights.
