Dawn raid results in vandalism and clashes in Twedie, Ashanti Region: Ghana News

A dawn raid at Twedie in the Atwima Kwanwoma district of the has left three houses and 12 cars vandalized, following an escalated brawl between two gangs from Agogo and Twedie.

The incident, stemming from a Eve party altercation, took a violent turn on Monday, January 1, 2024. One victim, who sustained a stab wound during the clash, reported being attacked by a member of the feuding gangs.

Describing the aftermath, the victim stated, “We were all having fun at the Daakye Spot on the night of December 24 when a misunderstanding ensued between two of our boys from Twedie and some guys from Agogo, it turned into a fisticuff, we thought the matter has been settled only to wake up this morning to see this. Several properties have been destroyed.”

Apart from the vandalized homes and vehicles, the Twedie community's mechanized borehole also fell victim to the rampage, with two filters destroyed.

Expressing concern over the situation, the Assemblyman for the area, Augustine Osei, revealed that the police have arrested two suspects: “the police whisked two suspects away.”

Despite the arrests, there is an uneasy calm in Twedie, with some irate youth vowing retaliation. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent further escalation.
