Court sentences driver for attempted stealing

The Circuit Court Four has imposed a fine of GH¢3,600.00 on a driver who broke the side window of a saloon car in an attempted theft.

Baba Ibrahim pleaded guilty to causing unlawful damage to the left side glass window of a wine Toyota Corolla sedan with registration number GE 4122-22. However, he denied attempting to steal from Mr. William Kofi Kwarteng's vehicle.

The prosecution withdrew the attempted stealing charge against Ibrahim. Police Chief Inspector Eric Pobee informed the court, presided over by Mrs Kizita Naa Koowaa Quarshie, that Mr Kwarteng, the complainant, is a pathologist and a resident of Community 18. Ibrahim, the defendant, is a driver residing in Community 17.

According to Chief Inspector Pobee, on February 15, 2024, at about 0600 hours, the complainant parked his wine Toyota Corolla saloon car in front of his workplace, Anathoth Consult on Community 18 Devtraco Road. Later, he received a call from an employee reporting an attempted theft, leading to Ibrahim's arrest with the help of passers-by.

Ibrahim admitted to the offences at the Charge Office in front of an independent witness. After investigation, he was charged and brought before the court for sentencing.
