North Tongu Member of Parliament, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa, has taken a swipe at President Akufo-Addo, highlighting what he perceives as the President's indecisiveness in appointing a Deputy National Security Co-ordinator.
Hon. Ablakwa humorously suggested himself for the position, asserting that, at the very least, he would prevent government appointees under high-profile corruption investigations from travelling abroad and causing embarrassment.
Ablakwa's statement came in response to the withdrawal of the appointment of an individual as Deputy National Security Co-ordinator, as communicated in a letter from the Office of the President dated January 9, 2024.
The letter, signed by Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff, and Dr. Osei Bonsu Dickson, conveyed the President's decision to withdraw the appointment due to impending reforms within the National Security Establishment.
The official letter states, “Upon further consultation and given impending reforms within the National Security Establishment, the President has decided to withdraw your said appointment. Please accept the President's best wishes.”
In his witty response, Hon. Ablakwa poked fun at the situation, suggesting that the President seems unable to make up his mind regarding the appointment of a Deputy National Security Co-ordinator.
He playfully threw his hat into the ring for consideration, emphasizing his commitment to preventing appointees under corruption investigations from leaving the country.
