Alfred Nii Ashie Kotey emerges NDC Parliamentary candidate for Odododiodioo constituency: Ghana News

Alfred Nii Ashie Kotey has secured victory in the National Democratic Congress () for the Odododiodioo Constituency, defeating his opponent, Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea.

In a two-horse race, Ashie Kotey garnered 1,209 votes, while the former MP, Nii Okai Laryea, received 952 votes out of a total of 2,169 valid votes cast.

The District Electoral Officer, Mr. Eric Boadi Okyere, declared Ashie Kotey as the Parliamentary candidate-elect, marking the end of a closely contested race.

Ashie Kotey attributed his success to hard work and expressed his commitment to uniting the party for the upcoming election.

“This contest has taught me a lot, and what is most important is that we unite our base and forge ahead to push the elephant into the bush,” stated Mr. Ashie Kotey.

He emphasized his primary goal of investing in the people, providing education, employable skills, and holistic development.

In response to the outcome, former MP Nii Okai Laryea acknowledged the delegates' choice and called for unity within the Odododiodioo Constituency.

He expressed concern about the existing acrimony, character assassination, and division and urged for a collaborative effort to address these issues.

The rescheduled the in the Odododiodioo Constituency to January 21 after the dismissal of an application for an interlocutory injunction obtained by Mr. Yarboi Annan.
