The police have detained four delegates participating in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Odododiodio Constituency primary for capturing images of their ballots.
The incident led to their detention for approximately one hour, followed by counseling and a stern warning.
Mr. Paul Oblie Laryea, Chairman of the Odododiodioo Constituency of the NDC, emphasized the party's continuous caution against vote buying and selling.
Despite repeated announcements against such acts, some individuals attempted to take pictures of their ballots, leading to police intervention.
“We made announcements about ten times against vote buying and selling, but some people think they could be fast,” said Mr. Laryea in an interview with the Ghana News Agency.
The election is being held at the Jamestown District Police Command across three polling stations – ‘A,' ‘B,' and ‘C,' with a total of 2,313 delegates.
Despite starting an hour late at 8:00 AM, the polls are scheduled to close at 4:00 PM, according to EC officials.
The Odododiodioo constituency parliamentary primary was rescheduled for January 21, following the dismissal of an application for an interlocutory injunction obtained by a disqualified candidate, Michael Nii Yarboi Annan.
